Valence Massage in Springfield, MO

Offering pain relief from musculoskeletal conditions and associated discomfort through massage, neuromuscular, and physical therapy.

I believe in a comprehensive multi-modal approach to health. By combining elements of exercise science, massage therapy, physical therapy, and patient-centered care, each treatment is tailored to your needs. Here are some common conditions I see:

Muscle Tension & Pain: stress, overuse, recent and past injuries can reduce muscle performance and make daily activities tiresome and painful. Massage can reinvigorate sore muscles while promoting relaxation and pain relief.

Sports (or hobby) Injuries: recover faster from sports-related or hobby-related injuries with neuromuscular and therapeutic massage techniques that aid in reducing pain and associated localized inflammation.

Joint Stiffness:  massage improves joint mobility and flexibility especially when combined with careful assessment and a movement plan. Whether it is shoulder, hip, knee, wrist, or neck stiffness, joint mobility is likely a factor and massage can help.

Stress, Anxiety, and Depression: massage has strong effects on your mood. It has been shown to be highly effective in managing daily and chronic stress. Research has demonstrated that massage is very effective in treating anxiety and depression.

Pregnancy Discomfort: prenatal massage offers relief from the characteristic aches and pains of expecting mothers; hips, backs, legs, and feet can take the joy away from this exciting time. Massage is a safe and effective ally for a happier pregnancy experience.

Low Back Pain: massage and manual therapy techniques, along with a skilled assessment and exercise plan, can help to reduce the number of days in pain and reduce its associated disability.

Chronic Headaches: headaches, even migraines, have many causes that are musculoskeletal in origin. Massage can help manage headaches by reducing their frequency and intensity.

Massage is not only a luxury to be enjoyed on vacation. It is a powerful tool to relieve soft-tissue tension patterns, ease pain, and connect with your body. It should be a component of a mindful and healthy lifestyle.

Massage improves quality of life, reduces blood pressure, reduces stress and anxiety, and helps to control pain.  Touch has a powerful effect on mood and well-being; massage has been shown to be as effective as psychotherapy for anxiety and depression.

Recipients of massage can be anyone, from high-level athletes to sedentary office workers, from infants in the NICU through every stage of life including palliative care. Massage is accessible to everyone from the ultra-rich in swanky spas to folk healers found in the poorest places around the world.
